Nokia has long been the pioneer for mobile phones. Its business though was bought by Microsoft to join the Microsoft Mobile subsidiary on April 25, 2014. With this, a Nokia comeback is expected this first quarter of 2017. Although the rumors are rife with the Surface Phone, Nokia?s upcoming Android phones are not in any way related to the Surface Phone 2017.
Nokia has confirmed back in December 2016 that it will release two new Android phones. According to sources and rumors, Nokia has confirmed the release to come around the first quarter of 2017. Know Your Mobile says that the phones will be announced during the Mobile World Congress 2017 or MWC 2017. The release of the phones will then follow after the announcement. The two models will be a mid-range handset as well as a flagship handset.
According to The Verge, the flagship handset is one of the most-awaited as it will apparently go head-to-head with Apple?s iPhone 8 and Samsung Galaxy S8.
Nokia?s Comeback Smartphones
In the same report from Know Your Mobile, it says that the flagship handset will come in with Qualcomm?s brand new Snapdragon 835 CPU. Furthermore, it will come packed with a 6GB RAM. While the mid-range handset will come in with the Snapdragon 835 with a 4GB RAM. Both handsets will also sport Carl Zeiss imaging, but it is unsure whether both of them will have a dual-lens camera setup or just the flagship phone. It is rumored that the flagship handset will have a similar camera setup seen on the iPhone 7 Plus that was released during 2016.
Beyond the known components, Nokia?s smartphone will be running the Android OS. It has also been indicated that the prices will be low as well. It will start at about $150 and will go upwards according to its components such as RAM and storage. Apparently, one of the phones will be called the Nokia D1C.
“Nokia D1C is going to be one of the first Nokia Android Phones to be launched as per this tip,” wrote NPU, “It will be revealed to the world at MWC 2017. Again as claimed in another interview, Nokia Android Phones should be available very soon post their launch.”
There are not a lot of information available as of late on the upcoming Nokia smartphones. However, the phones will apparently run on Google?s latest Android 7.0 Nougat. Furthermore, it is said that it will give Samsung and Apple a run for their money.
