With the success of the recent Evolution Tournament or EVO 2014, it is not surprising that the event will have more sponsors. EVO 2014 received positive feedback from all players, developers, and all of the gaming communities. The success that they received somehow changed Nintendo?s perspective about video game fighting tournaments and will now sponsor the next EVO tournament.
The Evolution Tournament represents the largest and longest-running fighting tournaments in the world. Evo brings together the best of the best from around the world in a dazzling exhibition of skill and fun. They held lots of games during the EVO 2014 and that includes Super Smash Bros. Melee, the game of Nintendo which they actively tried to shut down back during EVO 2013.
In a tweet by a popular e-sports caster D?Ron Maingrette, the official list of sponsors that he revealed now include Nintendo along with Twitch, Mad Catz, and more.
As you can see, Nintendo is now participating along with other sponsors.
The surprising part is that Nintendo was consistently negative about this fighting tournament even though it offers them free advertising. The thing is, Nintendo did not realize how supportive their fans were as they raised a total of $95,000 in EVO?s Official charity fundraiser just to have the game at the event.
The games that players will be playing are:
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Ultra Street Fighter 4
Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3
Injustice: Gods Among Us
King of Fighters XIII
Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma
A new upcoming event will take place at the LVH Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas as a continuation of the EVO 2014 this coming July 11-13. Games will now be played with Xbox 360 as the main platform, rather than the PS3.
