With the rise of smartphones, handheld devices such as the Sony PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS have lost its popularity. However, Nintendo might be taking the gaming glory back to them after they introduce their revolutionary product which is called the Nintendo Switch.
That being said, the current existing handheld consoles are going to be blown out of the water. As can be seen in its trailer, Switch is fully capable of playing games in both indoors and outdoors.
In addition, it includes two controllers for certain multiplayer games. However, its coolest function is its mobility and the capability of running games on huge flat screen TVs whereas both PS Vita and 3DS is only capable of playing games by themselves.
In this case, it?s pretty understandable given that both handheld consoles doesn?t have the needed hardware to play games via TV. If the trailer of Nintendo Switch is proven true, then it?s capable of playing AAA games with or without a TV.
Hence, it might be rocking a specific hardware which is light years away compared to its competitors. Meanwhile, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang told the VentureBeat that gamers are going to be amazed by Switch.
He also added that Performance matters because games are built on great performance. However, form factor and energy efficiency also matter incredibly because Nintendo wants to build something that?s portable and transformable.
Could Nintendo Switch Blow Both Current and Next-Gen Consoles?
NVIDIA and Nintendo have been working together for two years. As it turns out, an NVIDIA-designed chip is going to be inside the upcoming console. Furthermore, the relationship between Nintendo and NVIDIA could last two decades said, Huang.
That being said, by the time that the Switch comes, it might even compete with standard gaming consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One. Heck, it could even compete with the PS5 or the next Xbox console if it?s released the same time as Nintendo Switch.
