Nintendo?s Super Mario Run?hit the ground running as it soared through the App Store upon release. The mobile version of the well-loved classic game had over 50 million downloads on its first week. However, the mobile game seems to have quickly lost its steam as players are required to shell out money to play the other levels in the game. Nonetheless, Nintendo is reportedly planning to expand more into the mobile market. The tech company is poised to release more mobile games in 2017.

Yearly Releases After 2017

According to Greenbot, in a Japanese interview by Kyoto NP with Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima, he said that the company is planning to release two to three new mobile games. Its plan is to have yearly releases after 2017. It?s still unknown, however, if the games will be available on both iOS and Android. The company?s recent game Super Mario Run is currently available on iOS only. Android users will get their hands on the title next year.

Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing

In an earlier report, the same website said that the most likely games to be released are Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing. Back in April, Nintendo tweeted about bringing its popular characters to its mobile games. However, the tweet doesn?t seem to exist anymore. ubergizmo was able to quote Nintendo though. It said,??Both of these are pure game applications. Compared to Miitomo, they have more prominent game elements, and the game content will tie closely into Nintendo?s dedicated games business.?

The report further said that Fire Emblem will be a role-playing game. It will reportedly be more accessible than other games in the series. However, the same report claimed that the two games will be released in autumn 2016. Until now, the titles have yet to see the light of day. Engadget reported back in September that the games have been delayed to 2017. Apparently, Super Mario Run is partly to blame for it.
