Chinese heartthrob Ning Zetao is only 23 years old but he has already won a gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle category last year during the 2015 World Aquatics Championship in Russia. The 6?3? tall athlete cum Chinese Navy lieutenant specializes in sprint freestyle, and is currently participating in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle category in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
With his athletic credentials, a body built like a Chinese god, and boyish good looks, it?s no wonder that netizens are Zetao-crazy and unashamed to express it on social media sites as well.
Girls would be disappointed though because Ning Zetao?s laser-like focus has him spending most of his time training and building up speed and resistance for his sport.
All this focus, he might have gotten from learning his lesson. At 18, Ning tested positive for clenbuterol, a fat-burning tool often used by steroid users. He served a one-year suspension because of this.
It was only in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games when Zetao became popular. He took home four gold medals in the 100-meter freestyle and the men?s 4 x 100-meter freestyle, breaking Asian records and becoming a major household name.
Focused and in the zone
One thing his fans want to know is his relationship status. Stalkers will be disappointed though because info on this is scarce. As far as Internet research allows, he is not linked to anyone presently, and his main priority is to make his family and country proud.
According to his ELLE Men interview, having a girlfriend or getting married is the least of his concerns at the moment. He apologizes to fans in advance if he does not give them photos or autographs when they see him at training. He?s just so focused and in the zone that nothing else exists around him. He hopes that his fans won?t take it personally.
The important trait he wants to have in a girlfriend is she has to be, above all else, filial and loyal.
?I haven?t really considered girlfriend stuff. I guess when it?s fate I?ll think about it.? Ning said. ?For marriage, I think that my parents must agree, my grandparents must also agree?only possible if both families agree.?
Catch Ning Zetao at the Rio Olympic Games 2016 when he competes on Aug 9 and 11, for the Men?s 100-meter and 50-meter style, respectively.
