The new NieR Automata update 1.06 is now live on the PlayStation 4 version as of May 1 in the West. The new update includes support for the DLC “3C3C1D119440927” which includes new costumes for the playable characters, a new soundtrack, cosmetics, and bullets. The update also brings fixes for the major menu and hacking text bugs that turn it into unintelligible symbols.
New Update Contents
DLC “3C3C1D119440927” is the first post-release content that will be implemented in NieR Automata. This DLC isn’t expansive as previously confirmed by director Yoko Taro, but it has enough content to keep fans interested. New costumes, hair color sprays, masks, and special bullets are confirmed to be the DLC’s new character cosmetic additions. These items can be collected by winning fights in the battle arena.
The new costumes are designed similarly to the original NieR characters. Additionally, the new DLC adds new songs which could be accessed through the Jukebox in the Resistance Camp.
Square Enix and Platinum Games “Boss” Fight
The NieR Automata update 1.06 DLC also brings in a new boss fight against Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda and Platinum Games CEO Kenichi Sato. While this boss fight looks comical, the two bosses are deadly in battle. Their reveal livestream featured the two teaming up together against the player and is capable of chaining combo attacks. The fight can get difficult if the player isn’t careful.
Before the NieR Automata update 1.06 live, the players noticed a large problem with the game’s user interface. Fans on Reddit confirmed that these problems have been fixed in the latest patch. The bug causes some menus and pop-up messages to have unintelligible words which definitely obscure the player’s choices. The game still played fine as it simply had corrupted text which could ruin immersion in the game.
As of now, fans can only wait for the DLC to go live on the store on May 2. Square Enix has yet to announce a specific release time for the expansion.
As seen in the previous DLC 3C3C1D119440927 livestream, the expansion simply adds more cosmetic items and battles to engage in rather than delving more on the game’s story. Taro has previously mentioned that they don’t have the budget to create expansive DLCs. However, Taro confirms that he’ll do anything like new content and series cross-overs as long as he has funding.
The “3C3C1D119440927” DLC and the Gravity Rush 2 2B costume for Kat are great examples of these NieR Automata content. This means that NieR Automata has potential for larger DLC if the company sends him more money. Fans are encouraged to voice out to Square Enix and Platinum Games if they want more content for NieR Automata.
