Ni No Kuni 2 Release Date And Gameplay: What We Know So Far

Ni No Kuni 2

Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom was announced late last year but hasn?t been heard of since. The only thing revealed about this sequel is that it will be a PS4 exclusive, which isn?t too surprising since the first game was only available on the PS3.

Judging from the only trailer released, it seems like we will not be seeing any of the characters from the first game. This isn?t a bad decision because it ensures that players who did not get to play the first game will be able to play the second one, though one has to wonder why the developers didn?t just add a subtitle to the game.

So far, the only characters named are Evan the Boy King, who looks like the game?s main protagonist, and Roland, who is a ?visitor from another world.? Judging from the trailer, it seems like Evan?s kingdom has been overtaken by an army, and it is up to the two to build one of their own as they attempt to get the castle back from the villain.

There aren?t too many callbacks to the first game, though the visual style is similar. Ni No Kuni 2 features even better visuals, improving on the first game with sharper character models and better-looking environments.

Speaking of the visuals, the game retains its Studio Ghibli-esque graphics, but the anime studio itself wasn?t credited. This is a bit odd because the first game featured the studio prominently. With rumors of the studio releasing their last film, this might be the main reason why we will not be seeing them get any credits for the visuals.

Gameplay-wise, nothing has been shown yet. The first game was a pretty traditional RPG, with a few Pokemon elements that made battles more interesting. The battle system was a mix of turn-based action and real-time movement, which could be kept or removed completely when the sequel comes out.

Currently, Ni No Kuni 2 has no release date, so the only thing known about it is it will be coming to the PS4 and is a sequel to the first game. Considering that the first Ni No Kuni was one of the best RPGs for the console, the sequel has a lot to live up to.
