There?s a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming this year and it?s an action comedy based on the franchise with the same name. It?s a reboot of the previous film series and this new movie will be produced by Nickelodeon Movies as well as Michael Bay?s production company, Platinum Dunes.
To commemorate the movie, a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game will be released for the Nintendo 3DS later this coming summer. The announcement was made by game publisher Activision.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game will be a third person hack and slash type of action game that is set in the TMNT universe of New York City. There is a mutant, robotic army that has been created by mad genius Baxter Stockman and the Foot Clan?s shadow army have teamed up to lay waste to the city. Players are tasked to save the city from doom and they will be able to use the game?s four different heroes namely Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello. Players can swap through each of these heroes on the fly and they will need to determine which set of unique abilities will best suit the purpose of the task at hand.
Players gain experience as they go along taking down the bad guys and the turtles can level up in power as well as earn new abilities and bolster stats. Raw materials can also be collected to be able to craft more powerful weapons.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game is expected to be released very closely to the Michael Bay film?s worldwide launch on August 8. The game is in development with Magic Pockets which is the same studio behind the October 2013 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game which was based on the Nickelodeon TV show. This new game is the continuation of the multi-year deal between Activision and Nickelodeon for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise development rights.
Another recent TMNT game was released last year by Red Fly Studios and it was named Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows but was received poorly due to things being broken at launch.
