Looks like we will be getting a fifth Indiana Jones movie and the originals will be returning as well.
And we thought Indiana Jones has retired for good on his adventures! It seems we will be seeing more from him once again as Disney has revealed that a fifth Indiana Jones movie has been a go signal. The fifth untitled installment has a July 11, 2019 release date.
It has been seven years since the last Indiana Jones movie, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which received poor reviews from critics. But even if it has been a long time since a new movie was released, Harrison Ford will still reprise his role as Dr. Jones despite the rumors circulating that new blood will take the mantle of Indiana Jones. Some potential candidates include Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, or Shia LaBeouf. LaBeouf played Henry Jones III in the previous movie.
Along with Ford, Steven Spielberg, who was the director of the recent Indiana Jones films, will return once again to direct the upcoming film along with producers Frank Marshall and George Lucas; who created the story of Indiana Jones and Star Wars. They will be joined by producer Kathleen Kennedy for the movie. Disney will be handling the release of the next Indiana Jones movie. In a statement, Disney head Alan Horn said:
?Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can?t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,? said Disney chairman Alan Horn. ?It?s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn?t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.?
The previous Indiana Jones movies were Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) and 2008?s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
