Twitch.tv, the world?s leading video platform for gamers, announced Wednesday the premier of the upcoming eSports and gaming documentary Die Noobs.
The live digital premier will be shown on Twitch?s official channel on August 29, 2014.
?One of the interesting aspects of Twitch is how aspiring film producers are now using our platform to showcase their gaming-related movies,? said Ben Goldhaber, Director of Content Marketing for Twitch. ?Our community has really enjoyed this burgeoning trend, so the worldwide live premiere of Die Noobs represents the next in a long line of movies that will help shape the cinematic corner of our site.?
Not too long ago, Valve also released a documentary about eSports. The film titled Free-to-Play focused on their MOBA game Dota 2, which featured some of the game?s most prominent personalities.
Die Noobs is a documentary about Zack Below and Jason Rubek, two good friends over the Internet who never saw one another in real life until about a year ago. Being fascinated about competitive gaming, the two decided to take a journey to the world of eSports. In the process, they meet rockstars, UFC fighters, professional video game players, and eSports casters. Some of the celebrities featured in the documentary include Avenged Sevenfold?s M. Shadows, Superman Dean Cain, UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett, Superbowl Champion Tom Crabtree, NFL Punter Chris Kluwe, Playboy Playmate Pamela Horton, and a lot of professional gamers and casters. The two friends ventured to Europe, South Korea, and North America to make the film possible.
?When Jason and I started on our journey, we had no idea if we could pull this off,? said Below. ?This documentary started as a way for two gaming friends to finally meet up in real life, but it has become so much more than that. We hope our story inspires others to live the esports?dream and play competitive video games with great friends, old and new. We couldn?t be more?excited or proud to premiere our film to the world on Twitch.?
