The NBA landscape has changed a lot over the past couple of days ever since Kevin Durant announced that he will be joining the Golden State Warriors. The rest of the NBA teams are instantly scrambling to get a roster together that could remotely compete against a complete Golden State squad. No other team is more desperate than the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are still pretty disappointed with KD?s decision. If NBA trade rumors are true, they may be looking to move their other star player, Russell Westbrook.
According to ESPN, the Thunder are reportedly mulling their decision on Russell Westbrook. With KD out of town, the Thunder is certainly in a very big predicament. Westbrook is going to be a free agent at the end of next season which has really made the situation even more challenging for the team. This is why the report has mentioned that if Westbrook are not able to strike a deal with the point guard the Thunder may consider fielding offers for him.
One possible landing spot for Westbrook could be next to former teammate James Harden and the Rockets. It would certainly make a lot of sense for Westbrook to reunite with The Beard. The Rockets are a borderline playoff team but with Westbrook they certainly have the pieces to compete in the competitive Western Conference. This is surely going to cause the talk of a Westbrook trade to the Rockets even louder leading up to next season.
A report from FoxSports mentions that Oklahoma City needs to try and trade Westbrook as soon as possible. This is certainly a strong possibility and it will be interesting to see if indeed Westbrook lands in a Rockets uniform next season. This is a situation that is still developing so be sure to check back here soon to find out more news and updates on NBA trade rumors 2016 as well as other trending stories in the NBA.
