NBA Trade Rumors continue to become louder and louder as the 2016 NBA season draws closer. With every team wanting to boost their rosters, many NBA superstars are linked to the many trade rumors swirling around the league. One of the names which frequently pop up is that of Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay. The latest NBA trade rumors have Gay potentially moving east to join the Atlanta Hawks.
Rudy Gay has been frequently linked in trade rumors ever since the offseason began. With the Kings in rebuild mode, the team is looking to unload the veteran swingman likely for younger players, potential draft picks or to free up some cap space.
It was earlier reported that Gay wants to be traded to the Miami Heat but nothing materialized between Miami and Sacramento so far.
Now, it appears that the Atlanta Hawks could enter the picture and be a potential landing spot for Gay.
According to Soaring Down South, the Hawks could be in a prime position to trade for Rudy Gay. The report mentions that the Kings would like to acquire players who will help them on defense. If that is the case, a combination of Tiago Splitter and Thabo Sefolosha could possibly be appealing to the Kings.
While two defensive bench players may not appear too enticing to Kings fans, the reality is that the trade market for Gay has dried up a bit. Several potential trade suitors for Rudy Gay have already gone in another direction. The Houston Rockets signed Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon in free agency while the Miami Heat have signed Dion Waiters and retained Tyler Johnson on the roster.
The addition of Gay to the Hawks will certainly give a huge boost to the team offensively, especially with the loss of Al Horford during free agency. Gay, Paul Millsap and newly acquired Dwight Howard will form a formidable frontline for Atlanta.
It remains to be seen if the Hawks will indeed make the moves to acquire Gay very soon. This is still a developing story so be sure to stay tuned and watch out for more updates on the latest NBA trade rumors.
