Ray Allen joined the NBA when he was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1996 NBA Draft. From the Bucks, he eventually played for the Seattle Supersonics before he won his first championship ring with the Boston Celtics in 2007. After that, he signed with the Miami Heat where he won his second ring alongside LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
Now it appears that Allen is looking to go back to his roots as he is reportedly contacting the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics for his potential return, as reported by RealGM. Milwaukee and Boston are two cities where Allen certainly played some of his best years as a professional. That has certainly played a factor in his decision of making a comeback with either of those teams.
Ray Allen is certainly not the player he was in his prime, but he can still stroke the three-pointer like no other. The eighteen year NBA veteran is, likewise, an excellent locker room guy that the Bucks or Celtics will benefit from.
If he does join the Celtics, it will certainly be a very good situation for him. The Celtics are young and athletic and have been a surprising playoff team in the past two years. With Isaiah Thomas, Al Horford and Jae Crowder on the roster, the addition of some veteran leadership may be what the team needs to go deeper in the playoffs.
The Bucks, on the other hand, are full of potential, but it is still not a playoff team at the moment. With Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker and Michael Carter-Williams all still getting better, expect the Bucks to improve at a gradual pace. Allen can certainly come in and help guide the youngsters to help them reach the playoffs.
