The NBA Trade rumors are become even more interesting as opening night of the 2016 NBA season draws closer. With so many superstars changing zip codes this offseason, the NBA landscape has changed drastically. Russell Westbrook could find himself the next one suiting up for a new team as rumors have him getting traded before the season starts.
Oklahoma City certainly suffered a huge blow when they missed out on convincing Kevin Durant to stay with the Thunder. Now the team only has one half of their dynamic duo on the roster but that too could soon change.
The Thunder were certainly a title contender with both Durant and Westbrook on the roster. Now that KD is in the Bay Area, team ownership must seriously consider if they can compete with Westbrook as their lone superstar. Something that makes the situation even trickier is the fact that the energetic point guard is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season.
Oklahoma City certainly does not want to have another superstar just walk away from the team next year which is why they may decide to trade Russell Westbrook in the near future. While there has been no confirmation yet on whether OKC will pull the trigger on a Westbrook trade, Howard Beck of the Bleacher Report expects the superstar to get traded ?sooner rather than later?.
The Boston Celtics have been mentioned as the likely trade partner for the Thunder given their collection of young players and draft picks. They have also been rumored to be making a huge trade very soon. That in fact could potentially be a Russell Westbrook to Boston trade which will make the Celtics one of the best teams in the East.
The NBA regular season opens in a couple of months so the Thunder still has time to make their decision. Be sure to check back here to get the latest news and updates on this developing situation.
