The Boston Celtics are indeed having a very busy summer, but they are not done yet because according to several NBA Trade Rumors, the organization is still going after the Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor.
Earlier this summer, the Celtics have already acquired the great forward Al Horford, formerly a member of the Atlanta Hawks. However, recent reports suggest that they are still not done as they are willing to trade for Okafor, the 2015 number overall pick.
The athlete is currently in Philadelphia but because of the recent drafting, where they got the overall number pick and signed the small forward Ben Simmons, the organization is now dealing with a lot of big men on their roster, which is likely the possible reason why Celtics would succeed in getting Okafor.
?The two teams [Celtics and Sixers] were reportedly close to getting a deal done on draft night, and league sources claim both have kept the door ajar to getting a deal done between now and the start of training camp,? said reporter A. Sherrod Blakely.
However, an NBA league official really believes that Okafor is not what the Celtics need. ?[Okafor] would help Boston, obviously. But it?s clear that Boston isn?t looking to just add a player who can make them better. They?re looking for a guy who can come in and make an immediate impact in a really, really big way. Okafor?s good, but I don?t think he?s that kind of guy for that team,? said the official.
As of now, both camps have not spoken yet regarding the status of the deal. Let us just wait for further announcements from the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers. Meanwhile, another NBA Trade Rumor surrounding the Eastern Conference is involving the Cleveland Cavaliers and why LeBron James has not signed with them yet.
Apparently, there are two possible reasons why James is taking his time. First, he is reviewing all of his options before signing with the Cavs. And second, he is just waiting for their roster to be completed and not signing with Cleveland yet will give the organization enough salary cap space to acquire great talents.
Although the Boston Celtics are still not sure whether or not they will come to terms with the Sixers for Jahlil Okafor, one is for sure, LeBron James is going to re-sign with the Cavs really soon.
