Several intriguing NBA Trade Rumors continue to surface as the offseason continues. With every team trying to be better for the upcoming season, several superstars have already been linked to major trade talks. One of the early rumors which popped up in the first few weeks of the offseason appears to still be a possibility as a DeMarcus Cousins trade to the Cavaliers may still happen.
DeMarcus Cousins have become one of the most dominant big men in the NBA over the past couple of years. While he has improved significantly every season, his team though has not. The Kings continue to become perennial cellar dwellers and it is one of the reasons why Cousins could want a ticket out of Sacramento. In the latest trade rumors, he could potentially find his way to the defending champion Cavaliers.
According to TheCornerTalk, the Cavs have previously inquired about Cousins although nothing materialized out of the inquiry. The deal would have sent Kevin Love out of Cleveland and in turn Boogie Cousins will be taking his place on the roster.
The inquiry certainly made an impact on NBA fans as the thought of Cousins joining the already talented squad which features LeBron James and Kyrie Irving will undoubtedly make them favorites to win it all this season. Cousins though is still a work in progress and while he has made strides in terms of his play on the court, his maturity may still need improvement.
Still, replacing Kevin Love with an up and coming big man in DeMarcus Cousins will certainly make the defending champions even better. On the other hand, it can give Kevin Love an opportunity to become the focal point on offense once more. A return to his former Timberwolves glory would be a reasonable expectation.
Unfortunately there has not been any confirmation yet that the Cavs and Kings are working on a trade, especially since the 2016 Rio Olympics are already underway. Expect more trade news and updates to surface after the Olympic games and hopefully the name of Kevin Love and DeMarcus Cousins will be frequently mentioned once more.
