NBA Trade Rumors just keep on going as the new season of the NBA is coming closer. There have been several rumors this offseason which has sparked the interest of many NBA fans. One of the biggest superstars involved in the trade rumors over the past couple of months is Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin. The Clippers were rumored to be shopping Blake Griffin via trade earlier this offseason. Recent news though have revealed that the former Slam Dunk champ is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Blake Griffin had a very rough time last season. He was involved in a controversy wherein he injured his hand punching a Clippers staff member. Griffin likewise suffered a serious groin injury which limited his time on the court. With all of these issues, several rumors surfaced that the Clippers may look to move the power forward. This is especially true given that Griffin will hit free agency at the end of next season.
Well, it appears that Doc Rivers is not afraid of losing Blake Griffin to free agency, the Clippers head coach revealed on The Vertical podcast with Adrian Wojnarowski. He said that he is confident the LA will be able to retain both Blake Griffin and Chris Paul who are set to become free agents at the end of the 2016-17 season.
With this news, it appears that the Clippers are no longer interested in trading Blake Griffin. According to Basketball Insiders, Rivers is confident that Griffin will re-sign with the team that he is reportedly not interested in trade talks involving the power forward. That is certainly a huge sign of confidence, given that earlier rumors mentioned that the OKC Thunder are interested in signing Griffin once he hits free agency.
While early signs point to Griffin staying with LA, this is still a developing situation. A lot of things may still happen in the months before Blake hits free agency which could change his decision. Be sure to check back soon to find out more NBA trade rumors and other news and updates in the NBA.
