The NBA trade rumors are really becoming interesting as the NBA offseason continues. At this point, several superstar players have been the subject of trade rumors, ?among them are Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin and DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins has been linked to the Boston in the past but now it appears that the Celtics may target a different big man instead of Boogie.
The Boston Celtics have a plethora of draft picks and young players which have made them an attractive trade partner for any team. Their roster has become stronger with the addition of Al Horford in free agency but the team is not done quite yet. They have been looking to add another solid big man via trade but it appears DeMarcus Cousins may not be it.
CSNNE reports that the most likely player that the Celtics could target via a trade would be Jahlil Okafor. The Philadelphia 76ers forward has been on the trade block ever since the Sixers drafted Ben Simmons in this year?s NBA Draft. The addition of Simmons means that there is a logjam in the Philly frontcourt as Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid would all need to have minutes.
With a crowded frontcourt, the Sixers have been talking to teams about Nerlens Noel and Okafor. The Celtics is the team that can give them the best possible return for Okafor and that could mean a possible trade could be on the way.
Okafor would be a great fit in Boston. The team has a young core composed of Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Marcus Smart and recent draft pick Jaylen Brown. With the veteran presence of Al Horford and Avery Bradley rounding out the team, the Celtics will surely be mentioned among the elite teams in the East. Likely the only question remaining is when exactly will the Celtics pull the trigger on a blockbuster trade.
