The NBA Trade Rumors are still popping left and right as teams try to boost their rosters for the upcoming season. The Golden State Warriors have been one of the teams which has frequently been tied to the offseason rumors. The most recent rumor is that Golden State may have just acquired another big man to help bulk up their frontcourt, and no, it is not David Lee.
The Golden State Warriors have acquired the services of Kevin Durant via free agency, instantly making them one of the favorites to win it all. Signing KD came at a cost though because the team had to trade or waive some of their players to accommodate Durant?s salary. As it stands, the starting five of the team is made up of four All-stars but the bench is sorely lacking talent.
The Warriors though seems to have found at least one player to help fill the gaps in the team?s roster. According to FoxSports, the Warriors have reportedly signed JaVale McGee to help boost its frontcourt.
Many Dubs fans were hoping that Lee would return to Golden State to help fill the void left by the departure of Andrew Bogut and Festus Ezeli but Lee decided to sign with the San Antonio Spurs. Now, the Warriors are putting their trust in McGee to help anchor the Golden State?s defense in the second unit.
Standing at 7-feet tall, McGee is definitely full of potential but he has yet to realize it in his eight years in the league. He displayed his athleticism when he entered the league with the Washington Wizards. Eventually, the Denver Nuggets thought that he had enough potential to give him a huge contract extension after the team acquired him in a trade.
Their hopes would not be realized though as McGee just did not seem to get things together. He eventually found his way to the Mavericks last season where he played sparingly but he did show some flashes of his defensive and rebounding prowess.
Now, the Warriors are betting on McGee to recapture his former glory as they are looking to bounce back from the tough loss in the Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. McGee is far from a sure thing, but with the free agent market almost dried up, the Warriors have very few options left.
Will McGee be able to prove doubters wrong and help the Warriors reclaim the NBA title? Be sure to check back here soon to find out more NBA trade rumors and other trending stories in the NBA.
