The NBA Trade Rumors only seem to be getting stronger and stronger as the offseason continues. While many basketball fans are following the 2016 Rio Olympics men?s basketball semis which are about to happen, several NBA teams have been working behind the scenes to try and get a trade done. One of the players who have been rumored to be on the trade market is Ricky Rubio. The recent rumor suggests that the Spanish point guard may soon be on the move and he could land with the Sacramento Kings.
Rubio was certainly one of the biggest NBA players to come out of Europe. He has been a hot item overseas ever since he started playing professional basketball in Spain at the young age of 14. He has been praised for his passing ability ever since his days in Europe and Minnesota Timberwolves fans were very excited when he finally came over for the 2011-12 NBA season after being drafted by the team with the 5th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.
Unfortunately, his NBA career has not been smooth for Rubio. His lack of shooting has really been a huge issue for him, limiting his potential. Also, several injuries have derailed the development of the young point guard.
Now it seems that the Timberwolves could trade Rubio soon after the team drafted talented point guard Kris Dunn in this year?s NBA Draft. According to Yahoo Sports, the Sacramento Kings is the team to watch in a potential Rubio trade. The report highlights that nothing is imminent but with the Wolves obviously wanting to free up more playing time for Dunn, a Rubio trade is the right move at this point.
The Kings already have Darren Collison on the roster but other than him, there are no other talented guards on the team. Collison played really well next to Rajon Rondo last season and if ever Rubio will come aboard, he can certainly move over to shooting guard.
The bigger question though is who the Kings can offer in exchange for Rubio. Rudy Gay is a strong candidate at this point as there have been several rumors that he wants out of Sactown. DeMarcus Cousins is certainly going to be part of the rumors, although it is hard to believe that Sacramento will part with the big man for an unproven point guard.
Be sure to watch out for this developing story as surely more details will be revealed as the NBA season draws closer.
