NBA Trade News: 5 Deals That Have Most Impact Next Season

By on

This year?s summer has been really a busy time for the basketball world especially with big stars joining the free agency and several NBA trade news. With that, here are some of the key signings which will definitely make drastic changes in the league in the upcoming season.

Kevin Durant

Probably the most shocking news this offseason is the decision of KD to sign with the Warriors. According to reports, the former Oklahoma City Thunder small forward accepted a 2-year deal with the Dubs worth $54.3 million.

With this move, Durant will join the reigning MVP Stephen Curry and all-stars Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Obviously, the decision of KD will change the balance in the Western Conference.

Dwyane Wade

Although he has not officially signed yet with the Chicago Bulls, it was reported that Wade already agreed to a 2-year deal worth $48 million. The news broke out yesterday and was revealed by The Verge sports writer Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wade probably left the Miami Heat because of his disappointments after the organization prioritized their center Hassan Whiteside. Another thing that might have affected his decision-making is the openness of the Bulls for a third year contract.

Derrick Rose

Another huge NBA trade news that involved the Chicago Bulls is the one wherein they have decided to trade their hometown hero, Derrick Rose, to the New York Knicks. It was last month when the decision was finalized. Rose alongside Justin Holiday and a 2017 second-round pick were acquired by the Knicks in exchange for Jose Calderon, Robin Lopez and Jerian Grant.

Rose will now join Knicks star Carmelo Anthony and the rising young athlete Kristaps Porzingis. If Rose could regain his MVP form, the New York Knicks will definitely become a force in the Eastern Conference and probably could stand a chance against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Pau Gasol

The Chicago Bulls also lost another key player as Pau Gasol decided to sign with the San Antonio Spurs. Reports stated that he agreed to a 2-year contract worth $30 million. To clear cap space, the Spurs had to give up forward Boris Diaw, who is now with the Utah Jazz.

Gasol is going to be a good fit to the team as rumor has it that star Tim Duncan is going to announce his retirement any time soon. Gasol will now join another great forward, Lamarcus Aldridge, and stars Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard.

Dwight Howard

Lastly, we have Dwight Howard moving to his hometown Atlanta Hawks. According to reports, he agreed to a 3-year $70.5 million deal. He now joins guards Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver as well as forward Paul Millsap. Last Tuesday, Howard said that he will do everything he can to ?bring a championship? in Atlanta.

With all these star player movements around the league, NBA is certainly going to be more interesting come next season, especially in the Eastern Conference. For the past two years, teams in the East side seem to have been no match to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. But now that the Knicks and the Bulls have already formed their own power teams, let us wait and see how this could alter the atmosphere in their conference.
