NBA Trade: DeMarcus Cousins Olympics Feat May Lead To A Cavs Deal?

By on

For the past months, several NBA Trade rumors have surfaced around the league. One of the most talked about is Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins and his possible move to the Cleveland Cavaliers. With his spectacular performance in the Rio Olympics 2016, here are the reasons why the all-star big man is a great fit with the defending champions.

It is without a doubt that Cousins is one of the best centers in the NBA and one thing that can prove it is the fact that he is a member of the 2016 USA Men?s Basketball Team. Furthermore, ever since he was drafted in 2010, he has shown the league that he really does belong and he is a force inside the paint with a career average in points and rebounds of 20.2 and 10.8, respectively.

During his first appearance at the Olympics, Cousins delivered a masterful performance. He scored 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in just 15 minutes of playing on the hardcourt. With his elite performance, a lot of analysts believe that he really should be traded to a contender team like the Cavaliers.

If DeMarcus Cousins would join the Cavs, he is going to play with stars LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. The center is a 6-foot-11 athlete with a 270-pound frame and through the years, he has shown that he can use his size effectively on both the offensive and defensive side, which Cleveland is lacking right now.

As of the moment, the Cavs only have Chris Andersen and Tristan Thompson in the paint and with the latter being assigned as a starter, the team will be less feared inside with only the 6-foot-9 guarding it. But, if Cousins will be added to the roster, he would immediately create a presence in the paint that would bother even the 2-time MVP Stephen Curry.

Aside from that, Cousins will also be helpful on the offensive end as the Cavs are known for their pick-and-roll plays. With the all-star center providing the ball-screens, he would open up a bunch of possible options for the ball handler because Cousins can hit the perimeter jumper as well as post up both bigger and smaller defenders.

However, although that is really appealing to the Cavs fans out there, there is another NBA Trade rumor circulating the internet and that is Cousins moving to the Chicago Bulls. It can be recalled that the organization recently acquired great talents in the form of Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo. But, they also lost big men Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah.

As a result, the Bulls are trying to create a force on the inside and Cousins is indeed a great fit for them. If ever he would decide to join Chicago, he is going to play with his teammate in Team USA, Jimmy Butler. Also, he could star along with Doug McDermott, Nikola Mirotic, and Bobby Portis.

How about you? Where do you think DeMarcus Cousins would take his talents come the 2016-2017 season? Will he stay with the Sacramento Kings? Will the Cavs acquire him? Or will the Bulls form their own superteam with him in it? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
