With the success of the NBA 2k17, there’s been a next-level hype for this year’s iteration of the game and publisher 2K Sports has finally announced it. NBA 2K18 is officially coming this fall, with Shaquille O’Neal and Kyrie Irving on the cover. It should be available across all platforms, including Android and iOS through the App Store and Google Play store.
The thing though is, the game won’t be free to download on those specific platforms. You have to pay a hefty sum to get your hands on this gem on the go. 2K made the predecessor available in both Android and iOS stores for around $8, so the ballpark should be the same for this year’s version. If you’re an avid fan who can afford that much for the game, it’s recommended that you purchase the NBA 2K18 APK officially there.
If you can’t, you may get the game unofficially via third party apps but there’s a catch. NBA2K18.co says free, third-party NBA 2K18 APK files will likely be rolled out a week after the Play Store and App Store versions are launched. 2K already confirmed that they will release the game on September 19. If the site’s claim is accurate, the free-to-play version should arrive around September 24 to 26.

For Android users, make sure to enable download from “Unknown Sources” through the Settings. Note, though, that third-party apps aren’t guaranteed safe, so download and install at your own risk. If you’re keen on getting the game unofficially, you can follow the steps below:
- The game, according to the same site, should be around 2.5 GB in size. Make sure you have stable and fast internet connection to download that big of a file, as well as 3 GB of free space on your storage.
- Once your device is ready, get the NBA 2K18 APK download and the data(obb) file.
- After the NBA 2K18 APK download is complete, install the APK file.
- Once you have downloaded the data file, decompress it and carefully copy the obb file in Android> obb folder in your storage.
NBA 2K18 is confirmed for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, and Nintendo Switch. This will be the first title in the franchise to grace a Nintendo console since NBA 2K13 was released on Wii and Wii U in 2012. Those who pre-order one of the special editions can play it a few days earlier, gaining access to the full game on September 15.
