Will NBA 2K17?s version of the Golden State Warriors be the greatest video game team ever assembled? With the recent addition of Kevin Durant to their ranks, the Warriors have catapulted themselves to never-before-seen levels of star power.
How Good Will The Warriors Be in NBA 2K17?
The current iteration of the Warriors is already the best team in the game. As of the current 2K16 update, the team is tops in both offensive and defensive overall rating. Their big three of Stephen Curry (96), Klay Thompson (90), and Draymond Green (89) are among the game?s highest-rated individual players. Adding Durant and his 94 overall rating to this already crazy cocktail puts the 2K17 Warriors on another playing field.
To put it in perspective, the 2011-2014 Miami Heat — with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh at their absolute peaks — never managed to have all three crack the 90 overall threshold. Prior to the announcement,?HBO?s Bill Simmons tweeted that Durant going to Golden State would mark the first time that four of the NBA?s 12 best players lined up for the same team since Bill Russell?s Celtic juggernauts of the 1960s.
This doesn?t even take into account the fact that the video game version of Curry is actually underpowered as of now. Back in February, 2K game director Mike Wang admitted to Forbes that the digital Curry is?currently incapable of replicating some of the real-life version?s signature moves. Imagine what would happen if NBA 2K17 Curry could consistently hit off-the-dribble 30 footers the way the real one does.
Make no mistake, next season?s Golden State Warriors will be one of the most dominant forces on both real life and digital hardwood.
