Fans hoping to see the Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker release this year, might be disappointed by the news. It seems like the game is taking a while to develop and is only 40% done, which is disappointing. Still, it’s better to delay a game and make it better, than to rush a buggy release for it.
According to a statement from Famitsu that was translated by Blasting News, the game is only 40% complete right now. Bandai Namco needs more time and we might get a completely different game from the preview trailer that was released. Four-on-Four battles are still expected, so that will be kept, but everything else might get changed later on.
It will be interesting to see if the Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker release is discussed in this year’s E3. Bandai Namco are a top publisher, so expect them to make some sort of appearance or announcement this year. The company might promote the upcoming Dark Souls-esque Code Vein, so fans have that to look forward to this year.
According to Saiyan Island’s translation, Bandai Namco will announce more info on multiplayer soon. Should the game only be 40% done, news on the multiplayer ninja brawl might be light, so don’t expect much. In the meantime, there is the upcoming Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Legacy for fans to look forward to. Most see it as a placeholder before Shinobi Striker arrives, but that isn’t a bad thing for anime fans.
From what can be gathered, it looks like the Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker release will happen in 2018. Aside from the trailer, nothing else surrounding the game has been discussed, aside from the “fresh take” it will have. The VP of Bandai Namco said it would be a fresh take on the anime, but failed to elaborate.
Whether it happens on E3 or later this year, here is hoping that we hear more news about the title. Naruto fans are actually somewhat excited for the game, since some players were tired of Ultimate Ninja Storm gameplay. Expect some news later this year or before the release of the Ultimate Ninja Storm Legacy collection later this year.
Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker will come out on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC, though there’s no release window. The Ultimate Ninja Legacy collection will be out this fall, collecting the four main games of the series. Most of the DLC will be included as well, outside of the Goku costume of Naruto, which had a limited release.
