It seemed like the Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm series ended with the fourth installment last year. After all, it did cover the final storyline in the Naruto manga and featured a ton of the characters from the manga, some of whom were DLC. However, it seems like Bandai Namco doesn’t want the series to die just yet, as a recent report shows that they might be bringing a collection of the first three games to current-gen consoles.
According to Gematsu, Bandai Namco trademarked ?Road to Boruto? and ?Narutimate Storm Trilogy.? Narutimate Storm is what the Ultimate Ninja Storm series is called in Japan, so it seems like the first three games will be in a compilation soon, which is potentially great news for those who only played Ultimate Ninja Storm 4.
While the Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm series could be coming to current-gen consoles, it could easily come out on the PS3 as well. Sony’s last-gen console is still fairly popular in Japan, and Europe just had a collection of the first three games for the aforementioned gaming system, so it might not be a current-gen collection.
The first three games play similarly to Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, though they are obviously less refined. The first game only features characters from Naruto, while the second and third game are all about the sequel series Naruto Shippuden. Should all the games come to current-gen consoles, fans can expect a few graphical improvements and all the DLC for the third game, since the first two titles had none.
What’s really interesting about the news is the Road to Boruto trademark. Since Boruto will be getting his own manga soon, does that mean we will see him star in a few video games like his father? Since we haven’t seen him go on his own adventures yet, we will have to see if the character will be credible enough to headline his own video game.
Until Bandai Namco makes a statement, there is no release date or release window for a possible Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm collection, nor is it known if it will come to the West like the Naruto online game. While a last-gen compilation is possible, there’s still a fairly decent chance it will come to current-gen gaming systems as well.
