Last September, MSI featured its latest offering for the VR gaming community. It unveiled the MSI VR One portable VR gaming PC in the previous Tokyo Gaming Show in Japan. Yesterday, the company has announced that the MSI VR One is now available in the US.
However, anyone who expects to buy the machine from MSI directly will be ?disappointed. The MSI VR One is only available, at the moment, through Newegg.
The MSI VR One boasts an Intel i7-6820HK running at 2.7GHz. Gamers will have two options for on-board graphics card, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070. The graphics cards are equipped with 6GB and 8GB RAM, respectively.
The entry-level model comes with a 256GB SSD storage while the top-tier version sports 512GB SSD. Both models have 16GB worth of RAM.
Apart from the top-of-the-line specs, the MSI VR One is equipped with two hot-swappable batteries. This guarantees gamers with 90 full minutes of untethered VR gaming. The PC is a mere 3.6 kg and comes with comfortably padded straps.
There is also no shortage of ports as the VR machine comes with a plethora of ports. It has the new Thunderbolt 3 as well as Mini DisplayPort, HDMIm and a multitude of USB 3.0 ports. The VR One is designed to work with the HTC Vive VR headset out-of-the-box. Delivering pure VR gaming experience at 90Hz refresh rate.
Both versions of the MSI VR One are available through newegg.com. The lower spec machine is priced at $2000. Meanwhile, the high-end model can be bought for $2300. Unfortunately, the portable VR computer is only available in the US and orders are limited to 2 per customer. There are no indications as to when it will be available in the UK and other parts of the world. For now, anyone outside the US will need to wait before they can get their hands on the MSI VR One.
