Tech aficionados witnessed the Motorola Moto Z and the Moto Z Force become official. However, the highly rumored Motorola Moto Z Play had been conspicuous by its absence. The unannounced device appeared on the Zauba website in India, suggesting that it may launch soon.
As noted by TechUpdate3, the Moto Z Play was earlier leaked on Geekbench sporting the model number Motorola XT1635. Now, the device in question codenamed Vertex as listed on Zauba, reveals that it will be possessing a 5.5inch display much like the Moto Z and the Moto Z force. The listing on Zauba also bears the model number XT1635-01. The variant listed has capability for holding a single SIM.
It was the Geekbench results that threw more light on the specs that the Moto Play will bring. Reportedly, the offering is expected to be hiding an Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 14nm processor along with Adreno 506 GPU under its hood. The device will sport a 16MP primary camera with features including the dual-tone LED flash, Laser AF, OIS and PDAF. It will be running Android Marshmallow and will possess 3GB RAM with 32GB of storage and a microSD card slot to expand on the memory. It is said to be complete with a fingerprint scanner and come embedded with a 3500mAh battery.
Rumors are rife that even though the Moto Z Play is expected to be light on the budget, it will still extend support for the popular Moto Mods. If this does materialize then it will definitely be one of the key aspects of the smartphone. The Motorola Moto Z Play release date is under wraps for now but given the listing on the website the Moto Z Play launch should happen sooner rather than later. It is widely predicted that the Moto Z will first be making its presence felt in the markets this fall, before the Moto Z Play makes a splash.
