After long delays, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive has decided to pull the plug for the last gen console release of Mortal Kombat X.
Owners of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 may have to cancel their preorders and their plans for a Fatality session as Warner Bros. Interactive has announced that they will be cancelling the last generation console port of Mortal Kombat X
Here is what Warner Bros. Interactive posted on their community site:
After months of development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game. We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned.
Mortal Kombat X for the PS3 and Xbox 360 was originally planned to be released last April, but it was later changed by the publisher to summer, then it was delayed again for a fall release. Mortal Kombat X was first released on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One last April 14, NetherRealm Studios developed the game and was published by Warner Bros. Interactive.
Those who preordered the game for the last gen consoles can still get a full refund by heading to the retail store where they placed their preorders.
Though it may not be a surprise for the said cancellation, it?s still a sad fate for last gen owners as more new games this year are ditching to port on older consoles and focusing more on the latest generation of consoles, though it is quite understandable as developers are focusing more of their resources in enhancing the game experience for their titles rather than spending more to rebuild their games to become playable in other ports
