Special crossover events and quests are not uncommon in video games. It seems Monster Hunter: World is no stranger to such a concept, either, what with its own crossover items from the PlayStation 4 title Horizon Zero Dawn. Here’s what you need to know.
Horizon Zero Dawn in Monster Hunter: World
Horizon Zero Dawn-themed equipment was made available through a special crossover quest upon the launch of the latest entry in the Monster Hunter franchise. Currently, there are two opportunities to acquire Horizon Zero Dawn items in World. One set applies to the player’s character, while another set caters to their Palico. The availability of such items is only temporary though, so it’s best to snatch them up while you still can.
How to Obtain the Horizon Zero Dawn Watcher Armor and Weapon
The Horizon Zero Dawn Event Quest called “Lessons of the Wild” is a five-star quest that requires players to hunt down eight Barnos. Upon completion of the quest, players will be able to get their hands on Watcher armor and the matching Felyne Watcher Grinder weapon for their Palico as a consolation. It’s worth noting that these items will only be available until February 8, which is when the special quest closes.
While the quest sounds simple enough, players must also face off against a Tzitzi-Ya-Ku along the way. However, players can utilize the creature in the battle against Barnos, as the Tzitzi-Ya-Ku’s stun attack will affect the quest’s targets as well. After completing the quest, players will then have the option to craft the aforementioned Horizon Zero Dawn equipment through the Smithy.
To forge the Felyne Watcher Grinder weapon, players will need one Watcher Lens, one Electro Sac, and 80 Points. On the other hand, the matching Felyne Watcher armor requires two Watcher Lens, three Dragonite Ore, and 200 Points.
Aloy’s Bow and Armor in Monster Hunter: World
On top of acquiring special gear for their Palico, players will also get the chance to unlock equipment Horizon Zero Dawn’s protagonist Aloy uses. Whereas the Watcher items are already readily obtainable via quest, the Aloy gear will be available from February 28 until March 5.
Interestingly, the Aloy armor is an entire set that must be worn together. It alters a player’s appearance in-game to resemble that of Aloy herself, complete with her distinguishable red hair. Details regarding Aloy’s gear in World are still rather minimal, though it’s likely that their availability will also come in a similar fashion through a crossover quest.
Monster Hunter: World is now available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
