Baseball fans have some new modes to look forward to in MLB The Show 16. Sony?s annual baseball sim is giving gamers exciting new ways to play when it comes out later this month. At the US PlayStation Blog, Sony San Diego?s Lance Leahy detailed the two new additions coming to Diamond Dynasty: Battle Royale and Conquest.
MLB The Show 16 Introduces Battle Royale and Conquest
Battle Royale tasks players with drafting their own team of players and using their assembled roster to defeat opponents in a double elimination format. Leahy called it ?the most challenging and competitive mode Diamond Dynasty has ever seen.? Those who outlast the field will earn unique rewards.
Conquest works sort of like a territory control game. Each of Major League Baseball?s 30 teams control their own portion of the map. By defeating other teams, you can conquer their territory and unlock special team-specific missions and rewards.
The developers will be conducting a demo of MLB The Show 16 live on Twitch.tv to showcase these new modes, so be sure to check it out.
Meanwhile, other classic modes like Road to the Show have also been given some new improvements.
?A revamped training system gives you the chance to unlock Gameplay Perks as you work your way through Road To The Show (PS4 only). You can also expect a more streamlined Road To the Show experience, as a new paradigm for base-running and fielding opportunities will maximize the time you spend in situations that matter,? reads the description on the Sony Blog. Additionally, the entire Road to the Show can now be experienced seamlessly without having to go the main menu.
MLB The Show 16 comes out March 29 on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson graces this year?s cover. For more MLB 16 news, keep it right here on the BitBag.
