Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines crowned her successor Monday, January 30, in her home country hosted by none other than Steve Harvey.
Miss Haiti, Raquel Pelissier, became the 1st runner-up while Miss Colombia, Andrea Tovar, received the 2nd runner-up honors. Mittenaere will now fulfill her duties by traveling around the world and representing the Miss Universe Organization.

People who follow the Miss Universe pageants probably already know what had happened between the famous host Harvey and the previous Miss Universe Wurtzbach. But for those who do not, Harvey had mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez as the Miss Universe 2016 before correcting himself and announcing Wurtzbach as the rightful winner.
In this year’s Miss Universe competition, Wurtzbach gave Harvey a pair of glasses. She handed it to him just before he was about to read the winner between Miss Haiti and Miss France. It elicited cheers and applause from the crowd and the contestants themselves.

Being in competition with other talented and beautiful ladies in this scale is undoubtedly scary at some point. In fact, most of the candidates would succumb to nervousness as they enter the question and answer portion. However, it appears that Zoey Ivory has her own way of flushing it all out by dancing to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.”
Miss Netherlands’ “chill” display onstage brought such good vibes to a lot of people. It appears that Ivory is a big fan of Beyonce as it looks like she knows the dance steps of the song by heart. The video of her dancing has garnered more than two million views and 61,000 shares.
Miss Universe 2017 Highlights: Miss Myanmar’s Extravagant Costume
Miss Myanmar Htet Htet Htun didn’t pull any punches when it came to the national costume competition. In fact, Miss Myanmar gracefully walked around the stage as if her national costume did not weigh 40 kilograms. Her efforts didn’t go to waste as she was honored with the competition’s “Best National Costume” award.
Other highlights of the competition were the Boyz II Men serenading the contestants. In addition, Flo Rida performing in the event improved the mood of the much-anticipated competition.
