It could have been an awkward night but ex-spouses Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert gave each other space at the recent CMA Awards.
As Shelton predicted in an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley made light-hearted jokes about his divorce with Lambert back in July.
There was no interaction between the two but during her acceptance speech, Lambert seemed to be referring to her split with Shelton and his new relationship with fellow Voice coach Gwen Stefani.
Dressed in a sleek black dress and pink dip-dyed ?do on the red carpet and in tight pants, a sparkly Chris Stapleton shirt and heeled boots for her performance of ?Bathroom Sink?, the 31-year old country artist won the award for Female Vocalist of the Year, making it?her 6th consecutive win.
“Man, I appreciate it. I needed a bright spot this year, so thank you. I love country music fans, and I’m just gonna keep it short, but?Justin Timberlake?and?Chris Stapleton, thank you very much. I’m gonna go home and practice. Thank y’all very much, I love y’all,” Lambert said as she accepted the award.
Lambert was also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, the lone female artist up for the award, and went up against Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church and Luke Bryan (who won the award).
A couple of days after the show, Lambert posted a photo on her Instagram account where the singer is seen wearing a cap with her arm around a black and white horse. In the caption, Lambert ?expressed her gratitude and happiness.
"Horse Power"….. I'm still floating around on a cloud from last night. Thank you so much @cma for celebrating country music in a big way and for letting me be part of it. Today was a day spent reflecting on this amazing life that Nashville and country music fans have given me. And my friends. I'm so grateful #inspired #gypsyvanner #nomakeuptillnextweek #musicismedicine #chrisstapleton #unicorn #ponyportrait
Lambert also Instagrammed a couple of sad songs:?Lake Street Drive’s “Better Than,” and Don Williams’ “Come Early Morning,” a song about a lonely man soon to be reunited with his love.
Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani and Shelton stepped out for the first time as a couple at a CMA after party in Nashville, Tennessee. After spending a flirty Halloween weekend together, reps for Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton confirmed that the two were dating.
“He’s a pretty rad guy, I have to say that,” Stefani said during a radio interview with Dallas/Fort Worth radio station 103.7 KVIL just two days after the pair?s relationship was confirmed.
