Minecraft The Movie

?Minecraft? is undoubtedly one of the biggest games to release over the last several years. The popular video game, which allows players to use textured cubes to create their own personal Minecraft universe became an instant hit and has become one of the top selling games across all gaming platforms. Now, it seems that its popularity is starting to grow beyond the world of gaming as the much awaited Minecraft movie has already been confirmed for a release later this year.

Mojang, the developers behind Minecraft, announced on its website that the Minecraft movie already has a release date. According to the post, the Minecraft movie is going to hit theaters on May 24, 2019 and will be released in 3D and IMAX. Addressing the seemingly long time before the film actually comes out, the post goes on to say, ?Yes, that might seem like a long time away, but it just so happens to be the right amount of time to make it completely awesome. And we all want an awesome Minecraft movie, right??

At the moment, not a lot of details are known about the project. BGR reports though that ?Minecraft: The Movie? is going to be directed by Rob McElhenney. You may know him more popularly as Mac on the hit comedy show ?It?s Always Sunny in Philadelphia?. The same BGR report mentions that the Minecraft game itself does not really have a traditional story, but the developers are working with Telltale Games to make a ?Story Mode? for the game. The ?Story Mode? could also be the basis for the plot of the movie though there has been no indication of that happening at this time.
