Minecraft is one of the games that will be available on Oculus Rift this September. Players who already own the game on PC and Global Xbox will receive its Windows 10 beta update so they can integrate the game with their VR devices. Minecraft on Oculus Rift is by far the biggest title that has ever arrived on the VR device.
Mojang, Minecraft?s developer, has released a statement on their blog.
?How?s your face? Is it ready? Is it ready to have Minecraft right up in it? It?d better be: today we?re releasing a free update to Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta which will enable you to play Minecraft on Oculus Rift,? reads the post.
The Facebook-owned Oculus Rift is set to launch in the UK this September. We?re betting a lot of kids and players will be strapping on these devices so they can immerse themselves in the Minecraft world (something that most of them probably dream about).
Meanwhile, along with Minecraft?s arrival on the Oculus Rift device is Microsoft?s effort to reduce the occurrence of nausea for players while they?re using the device. The company has incorporated several features so players can avoid such occurrence.
The first feature is what they call the emergency stop button; the feature will push the player out of the VR game and into a virtual room that features a 2D version of Minecraft. It doesn?t stop the VR from playing, but it puts the player in a more stable ground to arrest the onset of any kind of motion sickness.
The second feature is more on the smooth arc of the gameplay, wherein the programming literally changes to a 22.5-degree turn. Based on Microsoft?s testing, the jerky turn results in fewer cases of motion sickness than the smooth turns originally put in.
With the features intended to prevent motion sickness while playing Minecraft on Oculus Rift, TechTimes revealed that the game is ?fairly sedated? compared to the rest of the titles for the VR device. For a blocky, pixelated game, you really can?t expect massive motion, and so the worries on motion sickness may be far in between.
The Oculus Rift Minecraft Launch is scheduled on September 20 for the UK for the price of ?549 or ?699. Get the latest updates on Minecraft on Oculus Rift here on TheBitBag.
