Microsoft’s Xbox One to get July update soon

It appears that Microsoft is maintaining their trend of offering monthly Xbox One updates. A new video preview for the Xbox One July update showcased a feature called Achievement Snap along with other digital bundle offerings.

During the recent E3 2014 event, the Redmond-based technology giant gave its Xbox One fans a brief trailer to the changes the July update will bring. The Achievement Snap feature will allow players to keep track of their progress in a separate window without the need to leave their current game window. Also, a ?Get Help? option will be available to let the console search for tips and other tactical contents for achievements that a player has not completed yet.

For those who already own the Kinect-less version of the Xbox One, to be able to pull up the Snap menu all they need to do is double-tap the home button and select an app that they want to display in the side bar. Another tweak that the Xbox One July update will carry over is the option to choose which language players want their consoles to respond to ? even if it doesn?t correspond to the country they currently live in.

Another Xbox One July update is the support for future compilation discs and digital bundles, according to a post published in the official Xbox Wire blog. ?In the post, Xbox Wire?s Major Nelson describes this as ?”We’re doing some work now so that publishers will have options for great digital bundle and disc compilation offerings in the future. As we test this feature, we’ll be seeing more flexible combinations of game titles and game content.”

Finally, the game DVR and the activity feed will also be updated with MySpace-ish social aspects. Once implemented, players will be able to ?like? notes or recorded clips that are posted in the activity feed while they are using the SmartGlass app. Game observers are somehow wondering whether this imminent feature will also cross over to other popular social apps like Twitter or YouTube.

No word has been dropped regarding the release date of the Xbox One July update. What we know as of now is that it will be out officially sometime next month, or in the next few days for those who have signed up for Microsoft?s Xbox One Beta program.
