Microsoft will postpone the Surface Pro 5 release until the beginning of 2017, according to the reports.

This decision is due to the release of Windows 10 Redstone 2 operating system. Prior to this, Microsoft suffered some internal delays with the release of Redstone 2. The original plan was to unveil the new operating system at the end of 2016. Microsoft reportedly decided to reschedule the launch to early next year, along with the release of the new Surface Pro.

Another cause of the delay was the fact that Microsoft was waiting for the new Surface Pro hardware to be released from the developers.

Instead of pushing for the Surface Pro 5 launch, the company released a new ad for the Surface Pro 4. In the said advertisement, the Surface Pro 4 is seen rebuking Apple?s claim of the iPad Pro as a computer replacement. The ad also highlighted the specifications of the current Surface Pro.

The top of the line Surface Pro 4 features an Intel i7 processor with 16GB RAM. The storage can be as much as 256GB. It comes pre-installed with Windows 10.

For those who do not know, Cortana is Microsoft?s version of Apple?s digital assistant Siri. Much like Siri, Cortana also features command execution, like file searching and message composition, through voice. Cortana comes pre-installed with Windows 10 PCs and as an update for Xbox consoles.

Even though the Surface Pro 5 release will be delayed for a few more months, Microsoft has promised that they will still be unveiling a new product under the Surface branding. The company also hinted that the new device will be launched before the end of this year. Unfortunately, the company remained tight-lipped as to what kind of Surface device the new product will be. Many have speculated the this will be the much awaited Surface Phone, while others have said it will be a new version of the Surface Book. Both devices have been rumored and leaked in the past. However, there is no telling which product Microsoft will release by the end of 2016.
