Microsoft Surface Phone release is reportedly pushed back in 2017, according to a hint by Microsoft itself.

Microsoft is relying on its upcoming Surface Phones to dominate the mobile phone market. However, the company has not released any statement regarding the release date of its upcoming handset, but there are lot of rumors about Surface Phone specs and release date.

The Redmond-based tech giant has dropped a hint about the release date of its incoming Surface devices. Microsoft has put the notes on a wall dedicated to showcasing Surface devices in ?Microsoft’s Building 88 in Redmond, Washington. The slots indicate that the next devices will be released in 2017.

The rumors are heating up since an Indian app developer, Shubhan Chemburkar posted the images on his Twitter account. However, the slots do not show any particular device. This was taken as a teaser that new Surface devices would be released by 2017, including the long rumored Surface Phone.

Moreover, back in March, The Verge reported that Microsoft is working on the Window 10 powered mobile phones. These so-called Surface phones will be launched in 2017 as mobile phones are not the company?s priority in 2016.

?We?re fully committed to that 4-inch screen, there will be a time for it to be our focus, but right now it?s part of the family but it?s not the core of where I hope to generate developer interest over the next year,? Windows chief Terry Myerson told The Verge. ?There?s no lack of recognition to realize how important that form factor is, but for Microsoft with Windows and for our platform it?s the wrong place for us to lead.?
