Microsoft Surface Phone is one of the highly anticipated smartphones of 2017. Though the company has remained tight-lipped about the Surface Phone release, latest reports hint that Microsoft is planning a launch sooner than later.
Microsoft Surface Phone Launch
The Redmond giant has pulled the Lumia brand of devices from the market last year. Further hinting the imminent Surface Phone launch, Microsoft closed several of Lumia related social media pages. This includes a popular Lumia Photography Instagram page which was deleted without prior notice, reports NseaVoice.com.
In addition, images of a proposed Surface Phone leaked on Chinese social media Weibo, point towards a sooner launch. The leaked photos show a phablet like device with Surface branding similar to Lumia 950XL device. There are similar capacitive touchscreen buttons on the front with Microsoft logo.
The device also packs Carl Zeiss camera sensors with autofocus and flash. Also possibly included in the feature list is the wireless charging option and USB Type-C port. However, it remains unconfirmed whether the leaked pictures depict an actual finished phone or a prototype.
Numerous reports, however, have expressed doubts over Surface Phone’s spring 2017 launch. Several experts pointed out that the flagship device will materialize much later, possibly in late 2017 or early 2018. Others speculate the device launch in September to compete with Apple’s iPhone 8. It will launch with the rollout of Windows 10 Redstone 3 update.
