Microsoft Cortana, the personal digital assistant which was launched with Windows Phone 8.1 preview release in the US will invade the UK soon.

In the official Twitter account of Windows Phone UK, Microsoft posted a picture – Cortana logo – with the word ?Soon?.

If rumors are true that Microsoft will expand Cortana beyond Windows Phone, and intends to add Microsoft Cortana to Windows 8 devices, including PCs and tablets, then every UK people will surely rejoice. Other rumors said that Microsoft would also like to add Cortana to their Xbox One games console.

Cortana is the world?s first truly personal digital assistant, which is available on Microsoft Windows Phone.

At the official launching of the personal virtual assistant, Microsoft proudly said, ?We were inspired by the popular character from Halo who served as a brilliant AI and a deeply personal digital assistant to Master Chief? so we called her Cortana.?

Cortana, the only digital assistant, which is powered by Bing will get to know its users, build a relationship with them, and get better over time by asking questions based on the users? behavior and check in with the user before she assumes something.

?She detects and monitors the stuff you care about, looks out for you throughout the day, and helps filter out the noise so you can focus on what matters to you. Cortana will launch shortly here in the U.S.,?first as a ?beta,? and then will launch in the US, the U.K. and China in the second half of 2014, with other countries to follow afterwards into 2015,? Microsoft said.

To get Cortana in your Windows Phone 8.1, you?ll have her either as a Live Tile on your Start screen or by pressing the search button on your device. Then this will take you to Cortana Home.

Cortana is a cool stuff as it interacts either by speaking or typing. So if you?re somewhere that requires silence like in a meeting, just type your message and Cortana would not talk out loud. However, if you ask her a spoken question, she?ll answer verbally and even carry on a natural conversation.

?We?ve also designed Cortana to be able to interact with 3rd Party Apps installed on your phone. You can ask Cortana to help you make a video call in Skype, watch a TV show in Hulu Plus, look up a news feed on Facebook or send a tweet using the Twitter app,? Microsoft said.

With all these, UK will surely love to see Microsoft adding Cortana to Windows Phone 8.1.
