Metroid Fan Video Makes Waves On Social Media, Here?s Why

By on

Though we won?t be seeing Samus in action any time soon, this fan made short will keep us entertained for a while. Sadly there won?t be any new Metroid games to be released for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U soon, though the Metroid Prime: Federation Force is expected to become available for the 3DS next year, it still lacks the heroine Samus Aran. Without Samus, it does not feeling like a Metroid game anymore.

But thank goodness for fans, one group decided to launch a fan-made short video featuring the armored heroine. Metroid: The Sky Calls was created by Rainfall Films; the same team that also created the fan video of the Legend of Zelda movie trailer as an April Fool?s joke back in 2001 for IGN. Rainfalls Studio is a three-man production team that was founded by Sam Balcomb, who also directed the Metroid fan video, the fan short also featured Jessica Chobot; who is known to host some of IGN?s weekly videos and is now working as a host for the Nerdist.

You can read the full description below that was taken from the video link:

The classic Nintendo franchise, Metroid, envisioned through the lens of 60s-70s science fiction cinema such as 2001, Alien, and Solaris: this was the concept for Rainfall?s most recent production. Instead of using a modern approach, a style was developed more in tune with the themes that inspired the first Metroid game in 1986: isolation, exploration, and the wonders of deep space.

It is interesting to see that the Metroid franchise has a great plot setting for a Hollywood movie, you have a strong female lead character fighting against hordes of aliens in an uncharted depths of space. Maybe in the future Nintendo will decide to create an official movie for this series, and not to mention a new game to play.
