Recently, first-person shooter fans were quite shocked after hearing rumors that Deep Silver is going to launch a sequel for a hit shooter series in 2017. The FPS in particular is the Metro 2033 series. ?However, it seems that the rumors are false and fans may have gotten their hopes up for nothing. Will the Metro 2035 release date be next year?

In a post on the official Facebook page of Metro – The Game, Deep Silver announced that the rumors regarding a new Metro game for 2017 are false. However, that doesn?t necessarily mean that there won?t be a third entry in the series anymore.

?As the exclusive rights holder to video games set in the Metro 2033 universe, Deep Silver has ambitious plans for the hugely successful Metro series. But just to manage our fans’ expectations – releasing the next Metro game in 2017 is not one of them,? Deep Silver said.

This basically means that the rumors of Metro 2035 or any Metro 2033 game releasing next year is impossible. Deep Silver, however, noted that they still have plans for the series. We?ve yet to know ?what exactly their plans are, but it?s very likely that it?ll be a sequel to the previous entry in the series, Metro Last Light.

The Metro 2033 series is based off of a post-apocalyptic science fiction novel by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky. The story is set in the Metros of Moscow, and humanity is early on the brink of extinction after a nuclear holocaust created mutants out in the open.

The first series in the video game adaptation was launched in 2010. Its success led to a sequel, Metro Last Light that launched in 2013. When the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were released, remasters of the game were made and once again, fans had a hand at the amazing FPS game.
