Metal Gear Solid 6?

According to Konami, they will need a large sum of money to develop the next game in the franchise. ?When we start development, a large-scale investment will become necessary,? Konami said via Nikkei (translated by Kotaku).

It seems that Kojima?s fate at Konami is still undecided amidst the creator being heavily rumored to leave the company. According to the report, Kojima has yet to confirm his involvement in the next game. Is Kojima really just on vacation?

Kojima LA Studio Closes

The studio that worked on Metal Gear Solid 5 and Metal Gear Online 3 has now been officially closed. Rumors about the closure of Kojima Productions Los Angeles Studio was first brought to light by Duke Nukem co-creator George Broussard and Sony Computer Entertainment America producer Sam Thompson, VG24/7 reported.

The closure has now been officially been confirmed in an email sent by Konami to Polygon. ?Konami has made the decision to close its Los Angeles Studio, effectively immediately, due to the product development resources being restructured into a more centralized unit,? Konami said.

Konami assured that both Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and the included MGO will not be affected by the studio?s closure. ?Konami will continue its operations to support all Metal Gear Solid titles, including the recently launched Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Online. Metal Gear Online is still scheduled to release for PC Steam in January 2016.?

What is the significance of the LA Studio on MGS and Konami? ?The Los Angeles studio emphasizes Konami and Kojima Productions commitment to expanding our development footprint, Konami Digital President Tomoyuki Tsubio said when the studio opened, Polygon reported. ?The new studio will put Kojima Productions in the heart of the west which will benefit future releases as it will introduce new talent and creativity to the development teams.?
