‘Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain’ Tips: Lessen Mother Base Infection, Who You Should Quarantine, And How To Cure The Epidemic

By on

Don?t know how to deal with the Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain infection which kills your Mother Base staff? Don?t waste your time seeing all your high ranking soldiers die from the epidemic. Here?s our Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain tips on who you should quarantine and how to cure your troops.

After finishing missions 24: Close Contact and 25: Aim True Ye Vengeful, Ocelot will warn players of a Mother Base infection that kills your staff. Ocelot will require you to quarantine soldiers on Mother Base. However, he doesn?t tell you exactly who you should quarantine. If you don?t quarantine the right staff, the infection will spread and a lot of your troops will die.

You?ll continually receive updates on how many of your staff has died due to the infection and you?ll lose heroism as well depending on how severe the epidemic is on your base. This problem will persist whether you are on your helicopter, Mother Base, and operating in side ops or missions.

According to this thread, some players have reportedly lost 500 staff because of the epidemic. These players may have either failed to quarantine their infected troops or just wasted their time doing side ops instead of rushing through the game to find the cure.

Quarantine Your Staff

Go to staff management and look at the languages spoken by each troop. If Kikongo is one of the many languages they can speak, select the troop and place them in the quarantine area. Manually placing each Kikongo speaking soldier in the quarantine area is tedious, however, it?s still better to do this than to see your highly skilled soldiers die.

According to Twinfinite, Kikongo isn?t the only infected language and the person who cures your staff, Code Talker, also confirms this later in the game. Twinfinite advises that while the infected language is different for each players, the most common infected language is Kikongo. You can also check the most common language that caused your troops to die and base your judgement from there, Twinfinite reported.

How To Cure The Infection

Don?t waste your time doing side ops and previous missions. Finish the main missions right away once the epidemic starts. You?ll need to finish missions 26 to 29 in order to completely cure your troops. A cutscene will commence after finishing mission 29: Metallic Archae and all your troops will be cured and the troop quarantine menu from staff management will be removed.

Did you also suffer problems from the Kikongo infection? What other languages caused your staff to die? Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain is now available on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
