Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain

Recently, Konami confirmed that the Metal Gear Solid 5 Definitive Edition will be released on October 11. The package contains both the first Metal Gear Solid 5 Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain. Despite the long list of DLCs included in this package, the missing Chapter 3 for The Phantom Pain isn?t included.

No peace

The official Konami site lists the full content of the Metal Gear Solid 5 Definitive Edition. So far, most of the Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain DLC are cosmetics, exclusive items and Mother Base staff. There?s no sign of the main campaign chapter 3 in the DLC. Fans may not see the missing Chapter 3 even in the game?s definitive version.

Peace for the fans

Previously, Metal Gear Solid 5 director and former Konami employee Hideo Kojima confirmed that The Phantom Pain was supposed to have a Mission 51. Fans also unearthed a Chapter 3 file in the game’s codes. Despite the fans? hope for this chapter to exist in the game, Kojima?s departure and Konami?s shift away from AAA video games make Chapter 3 unlikely. Since the definitive edition doesn?t have any info on Chapter 3, the bundle may not be worth getting unless you haven?t played both games before.

Konami?s direction

After Kojima?s departure from Konami, the company confirmed that they?ll continue the Metal Gear series. Last Gamescom 2016, Konami announced Metal Gear Survive, which raked in negative feedback from fans. Metal Gear Survive looks like a pure online multiplayer game, based on its trailer. This concept is far from the heavy narrative themes about war, military, and politics present throughout the Metal Gear franchise.

However, fans may enjoy owning both Metal Gear Solid 5 games with this Definitive Bundle. The bundle is not a remaster. It only includes the two Metal Gear Solid 5 games and its DLCs but no graphics improvements. This Definitive Bundle could also be the ?Metal Gear Definitive Ex? product that was leaked before. Metal Gear Solid 5?s Chapter 3 is more unlikely now as Konami is focused on developing Metal Gear Survive.
