Metal Gear Solid 5 The Definitive Experience is set to arrive this October 11, bundling with it all the DLCs of Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. Despite this supposed good deal that Konami is offering to interested gamers, a couple of hardcore fans were disappointed.
Konami announced last month that Metal Gear Solid 5 The Definitive Experience would not include new content, however, a statement from the community manager gave fans hope that this isn?t the case. Here?s why we might get new features in the collection.
Nuclear Disarmament & Chapter 3: Peace
Community manager Robert Alan Peeler announced last month that the upcoming collection will still have the datamined Chapter 3: Peace title card. Peeler also said that accomplishing total Nuclear Disarmament is still possible.
It's up to players to fulfill nuclear disarmament or not. I'd like to see it happen personally but its not required

This is a big deal to fans as many believe achieving total Nuclear Disarmament will not only trigger a special cutscene, but it will also?unlock Chapter 3. Fans previously believed that achieving total Nuclear Disarmament would pave the way for Konami to patch-in the new chapter.?While Metal Gear Solid 5 The Definitive Experience might not have new content at launch, Konami hasn?t ruled out releasing a new update for the collection.
New Gameplay Features: Guard Dogs & Usable Battle Gear
Fans datamined and thoroughly inspected all the files of Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain. They discovered that enemies were also supposed to have companion dogs. Not only would they be able to detect you by your?smell, but they also have a clear vision at night.
Another file datamined is the Battle Gear. In the base game, players can only deploy the Battle Gear in non-playable missions. However, a datamined audio file revealed that players should be able to operate the Battle Gear. This means that the Battle Gear was supposed to function like a vehicle or a companion like D-Walker.
Director Hideo Kojima previously teased that Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain players would be able to revisit the map in Ground Zeroes, Camp Omega. Kojima said this was a ?big feature? that has ?never been done in the games industry before?. ?People who own GZ [Ground Zeroes] will be able to play a different mission,? Kojima told Geoff Keighly in 2014.
Fast forward to 2016 and this feature has yet to see the light of day. Camp Omega was only made available as a multiplayer map in Metal Gear Online.
Is It Possible?
Will we ever see any of these features in Metal Gear Solid 5 The Definitive Experience? While Konami previously said they will not be adding new features in the collection, these could actually be content that was planned for Chapter 3 once Nuclear Disarmament is achieved.
It?s certainly clever for Metal Gear Solid 5?to go full circle and conclude the story in Camp Omega. The game?s difficulty should also be ramped up for chapter 3, hence, Konami should include hard to sneak past canine enemies. Having the Battle Gear available as a companion is also a neat way to help action-savvy players trudge through in these difficult mission in Chapter 3.
But what?s the likelihood that we?ll get all these content? It?s actually pretty slim?based on Konami’s announcement that we won?t get any new content in the collection. While fans might get a new cutscene if they become successful in disabling all nukes in the game, there?s a small?chance that Konami will shell out effort on providing new content for a possible Chapter 3. But if Konami decides to add these “cut content”, fan perception on the company will definitely improve and it might potentially improve gamer’s perception of how Konami will handle?Metal Gear Survive.
