When Bioware launched Mass Effect Andromeda, players both had praises and criticisms for the game. One of the biggest qualms that players had with the game was with regards to the faulty and oftentimes too funny facial animations. However, it looks like Mass Effect Andromeda update 1.05 has improved a lot of problems regarding the issue.
A few players have discovered that Bioware has done several things to fix the facial animation problems. Many players are comparing the game side-by-side before and after the Mass Effect Andromeda update 1.05 went live. Although the facial animations aren’t perfect per se, there are still a lot improvements made to the long-running issue.
Redditor VirgelFromage shares a close look at the changes in the game. From the look of things, Bioware is well on their way into fixing the issue after Mass Effect Andromeda update 1.05. One of the more noticeable changes made to the characters in the game is the pupil size.
According to players, before Mass Effect Andromeda update 1.05, the characters looked “crazy” with such big eyes. After the update, NPCs and other characters have regular-sized eyes and the small change is apparently a big improvement with Mass Effect Andromeda. The patch also includes better shaders for each character’s eyes and makeup.
Aside from the eyes, Bioware made changes to the animations and expressions that NPCs and the Ryder Siblings make. This is yet another major problem with the game and it was the talk of the community when the game launched with these issues.
This side-by-side comparison by NeoGAF user GavinUK86 shows just how much the facial animations have improved before and after the update. Meanwhile, this video by OneShotGamer reveals another comparison of the game before and after the 1.05 update. Looking closely, the character models have better expressions than the previous version and this sort of improves the overall gameplay experience to some level. Another addition that players should notice is better lip synching as well as readjusted dialogue.
After the update, the NPCs look less stiff and more “lively.” But again, the game could still use more improvements but with this update, it looks like BioWare will still work out everything soon.
Players are definitely going to wait for the next Mass Effect Andromeda update after Bioware has shown steps in fixing the issues that worry the players. For now, we’ll have to lookout for all of the other changes that Bioware brought with the update.
