Here?s some good news for Mary Poppins fans! Dinsey has always entertained the viewers?with movies from across genres is all set to revive one of its most celebrated characters??Mary Poppins.
Variety?reports that the studio is busy creating a new project for the magical, P.L. Travers-?masterminded nanny which Rob Marshall (Chicago, Into the Woods) will direct.
The buzz is also that Mary?s character will explore her further advances with the Banks?family beyond as illustrated by Travers? seven additional novels. David Magee (Finding?Neverland, Life of Pi) will write the script. Apart from a completely new story, the movie?will have new songs and background score. The music will be composed by Marc Shaiman?and Scott Wittman.
Not just that, Entertainment Weekly?states that Disney and Marshall are collaborating with?the Travers estate and have already earned support from Poppins? co-composer Richard?Sherman, who penned the original film?s famous songs like ‘Chim Chim Cher-ee’ and?’Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ with his late brother, Robert.
What?s interesting is that, the children from the first film will be adults. In the original?stories, Mary Poppins is always dealing with the same Banks children. The original 1964 film?starred Julie Andrews as the titular magical nanny (for which she won an Academy Award)?and Dick van Dyke as Burt the chimney sweep/sidewalk artist/kite merchant reports?Cinema Blend.
Well, while there is no word yet on when the movie is expected to reach theaters, but fans?across the world are waiting to find out who will bag the role of the leading lady in the?movie.
