Walt Disney Pictures introduces the actors who will play the beloved characters on the 1964 hit, Mary Poppins. It was revealed that Emily Blunt was chosen to play the lead role of Mary Poppins. Lin-Manuel Miranda will portray a lamplighter called Jack and Meryl Streep as Poppins? cousin, Topsy. Most recently, it was confirmed that Ben Whishaw will be the grown-up version of Michael Banks on Mary Poppins Returns.
Streep?s role is a supporting character that wasn?t in the classic. Viewers could expect to see the Oscar-winning actress sing for her part much like she did in Into the Woods.
The director and producing team behind Disney?s hit film musical Into the Woods offer another classic film, Mary Poppins Returns. The upcoming picture will be directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marshall, John DeLuca and Marc Platt.
