Marvel’s Spider-Man: What We Know So Far, New Geeky Peter Parker, No Origins Story, Fresh Spidey Costume, And More

By on

Comic fans are excited after it was announced earlier this year that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will include Spider-Man after the company has come into agreement with 20th Century Fox to ?lease the rights to use?their super hero. The web-slinger would first appear in Captain America: Civil War before starring in a standalone film. Here is everything we know so far for Marvel?s Spider-Man.

New Peter Parker

Marvel is set to use a younger Peter Parker compared to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Tom Holland, 19, will portray a person who has to cope with his high school life while knowing that he has super powers. ?The tone will be really grounded, about a real kid who gets these powers and what that means with a geeky, outcast kid? as we were in high school,? upcoming standalone Spidey film scriptwriter Jonathan Goldstein told USA Today.

The new Parker is also said to be a relatable geeky outcast and it will be shown with the way he expresses his humor. ?He?s a sharp kid and witty and kind of deals with the fact that he?s an outcast and a geek through humor,? standalone Spidey film director Jon Watts told NPR.

Not An Origins Story

Fans may already feel fed-up from?seeing Peter Parker get bitten by a spider just to establish how he got his powers and how his uncle tells him the famous quote ?with great power comes great responsibility? before tragically dying.

According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the new Spider-Man will not be an origins story. ?It will not be an origin story? But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers,? Feige told Craveonline.

New Classic Costume

Rumors have been abuzz on what the new Spider Man costume will look like. Some have said that Parker will wear both a homemade costume first in Captain America: Civil War until Iron Man gives him a ?hero ready? blue-and-red suit. Some have said this will happen in Spidey?s standalone movie in 2017.

What?s sure as of the moment is that Parker will be wearing his classic costume that fans know and love while being ?different from any of the ones that have come before?. ?And yet ours is classic Spidey….,? Feige said when quizzed on what the new costume will look like.

Captain America: Civil War Appearance

Spidey will have a fight scene? We?ll get to see the young Marissa Tomei as aunt May in Civil War? Spidey will not merely have a cameo and will fulfill his role in the comics where he turned the tide of the war? Rumors like these has sprawled on the internet and despite Holland being seen recently in Germany (the place where the Civil War movie is being filmed), he hasn?t appeared yet in the first?Civil War?trailer shown in Disney D23.

Villains And Other Roles

Spidey may fight either Kraven the Hunter or The Vulture, if rumors are to be believed. A cast list has also surfaced online confirming the actors who have already been tapped and are yet to be announced to the public. Rumored actors include Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Rachel G. Fox (Mary Jane Watson), Timothee Chamalet (Harry Osborn), and more.

According to IGN, Marvel is only leasing the rights from Sony to use Spidey. Marvel didn?t spend a dime to get Spider-Man in the MCU. Fox won?t earn anything from the Marvel films that feature Spidey. Marvel, however, won?t earn a cut from the Spider-Man standalone films because it will still be made by Sony,?despite Marvel guiding the production, the report said.

Captain America: Civil War will be released in theaters on May 6, 2016. The untitled Spider-Man movie will be shown in 2017.
